Boy, 13, charged with murder after schoolboy killed in UK city park
The teenage footballer was stabbed before dying in hospital and police have launched an appeal for information.
A 13-year-old has been charged with the murder of a young footballer after he was stabbed in a UK park.
Police have now launched an appeal for information after the death of 16-year-old Kory McCrimmon.
It was after an incident at a park in Glasgow that Kory died after the boy allegedly stabbed Kory on the body with a knife or bladed article.
He was seriously injured during the incident at Greenfield Park in the Cranhill area of the city which happened at around 8.15pm on Friday, May 31.
Ambulance crews attended and the youngster was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on Sunday afternoon.
Police Scotland confirmed that a 13-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with the death, reports the Daily Record.
Now the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with murder. He made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
Tributes have been paid to Kory by his former football club and others shocked by the tragedy.
Easterhouse Football Academy posted on social media.

“Today our former player Kory passed away after a knife incident on Friday night. A 16 year old kid that played for our 2008 age group only a few month ago. It's heartbreaking.
The club added: "We need to try to educate the younger generation about the dangers of carrying a knife and the devastation that it can cause. RIP Kory."
Tributes were also paid to Kory on the social media site.
One said: "Our Kory. Absolutely devastated."
Another wrote: "RIP to Kory, your family must be broken into a million pieces. Thoughts are with everyone at this horrific time."
A third tribute said: "Rip wee man. This world is just getting worse by the minute."
Detective Inspector William Downie, senior investigating officer, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Kory’s family at what is a very difficult time. They have asked for privacy.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and there will be a continued police presence in the area.
“Extra patrols are being carried out and anyone with concerns should approach an officer.
“There were a lot of people in the park at the time and we are asking anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.
