Fugitive former Liverpool gang boss Daniel Gee arrested after month on run from jail

THIS was the dramatic mommet a former gang boss was arrested more than a month after he absconded from prison.

Daniel Gee, 44, who turned his Everton estate into a 24-hour drug supply area, absoncded from Kirklevington Grange prison in North Yorkshire on May 27.

Merseyside Police, who handled the search, confirmed today, Wednesday, June 26 that he was arrested yesterday in Wigan.

Gee is understood to have been located in the New Springs area of the town.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Daniel Gee, who had absconded from prison, was detained yesterday (Tuesday 25 June) in Wigan by officers from Merseyside Police.

Gee absconded from Kirklevington Prison in Stockton-on-Tees on Monday 27 May and extensive efforts had been ongoing to locate him since.

He is currently in police custody and will be returned to prison."

Gee was jailed on an indeterminate sentence for public protection in 2010 following his conviction for gun offences after he plotted to arm himself to take revenge against a teenager.

The court heard it was after he made death threats to 16-year-old gunman Jamie Starkey.

Gee had been seriously injured after being shot by Starkey outside an Anfield pub.

One of the bullets pierced his stomach and lung before coming out his back.

Gee was found guilty of two counts of threats to kill and another two of blackmail in October 2009.
