"In addition today several dog trainers and their expert dogs who have transferred from Madrid have joined the search. These dogs are specifically trained in searching for people over large swathes of land."

A representative for the Civil Guard described the search area as "immense", adding: "Officers involved in the search are going over old ground in the gorge but teams are also looking at other areas such as forest trails and tracks in other parts of Buenavista del Norte. Jay’s last known whereabouts were determined by his phone signal, which was traced to a vast mountainous region about half a mile north of Masca.

He's believed to have left the music festival the night before with two men he had met at the event. He ended up at a property in the Rural de Teno National Park, a 10-hour walk from where he was staying with his friends.

He journeyed to a secluded holiday let, named Casa Abuela Tina, located just outside the village of Masca. There are only two restaurants within reasonable walking distance of Casa Abuela Tina, and one bus stop that has services running between every 60 and 90 minutes, and only to Santiago del Teide and Lomo de Masca.

The 19-year-old from Lancashire was last heard from at 8.15am last Monday (June 17), when he called his friend Lucy to tell her his phone was low on battery and needed water.
