Aldi has unveiled a comprehensive list of locations where it intends to establish new supermarket branches in the upcoming years.

The budget-friendly supermarket chain has been on an expansion spree over the past few years and aims to continue this trend. Last month, Aldi appealed to the public to suggest areas in Britain that are in dire need of new Aldi outlets.

After receiving thousands of suggestions, Aldi has now analysed the list of locations and used it to identify the areas most in need of a new Aldi branch.

Highlighted areas include London, Surrey, Hampshire, Manchester and Liverpool. However, it's important to note that this is merely a "wish list" of locations - there's no guarantee that Aldi will indeed open stores in these places.

If you think a site meets Aldi's store requirements, you can email the retailer at: realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk, reports the Mirror.

Each potential site should be large enough to house a 20,000 sq ft store with approximately 100 parking spaces. Ideally, the location should be near a main road with good visibility and access.

The supermarket also stated that it is searching for sites to accommodate its Aldi Local store format within the M25, which are roughly 5,000 sq ft in size. Currently, the supermarket chain operates more than 1,020 stores in the UK but aims to increase this number to 1,500.

Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK's Managing Director of National Real Estate, commented, "We want to make high quality food accessible to all, but we can't do that while there are still some towns and areas that either don't have an Aldi or have capacity for additional stores."

He further highlighted ongoing efforts to expand, "We recognise there is huge demand in certain regions for more stores, which is why we decided to get the public's input on our latest list of priority locations. They have helped us identify where demand is greatest and we will continue to work to bring Aldi to as many people as possible."
