Queen' s Daimler for sale
ONE of the Queen’s cars, complete with a specially designed holder for her handbag, has been sold for £40,500.
The 2001 Daimler Super V8 LWB limousine was owned and driven by Her Majesty for three years until 2004, when it was returned to the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
It changed hands yesterday at auction house Historics at Brooklands, Surrey, for more than £10,000 above its estimated price
Sporting a British racing green livery and with just 15,242 miles on the clock, the Daimler was offered with its original tyres and an armrest with a sliding holder specifically for the Queen’s handbag.
It also had deep lambswool floor rugs and a pair of neon blue lights by the rear view mirror, used to identify the vehicle in which the Queen was travelling.
Workaholic Prince Philip has told aides “fill up my diary” as he recovers from June’s abdominal surgery. The 92-year-old already has four royal jobs lined up, the first on September 30, and insiders say he “can’t stand to be idle”.
