A clip of Prince Harry appearing alongside Prince William in uniform at a vigil for the late Queen Elizabeth II has gone viral, two years on from the former monarch's death.

By the time of The Queen's passing in September 2022, Harry had stepped down as a senior royal along with his wife Meghan Markle and moved to the US.

It meant that the Duke of Sussex had to wear a suit to her funeral, as the palace's policy is that only working royals may wear military uniforms at such events, despite Harry having served two tours of Afghanistan during his time in the army.

But the Palace made an exception, and a special vigil was organised for Elizabeth's beloved grandchildren ahead of her burial.

In break from protocol, Harry was allowed to wear the colors of his former army regiment the Blues and Royals to see her lying in state at Westminster Hall, as heartbroken royal fans tuned in from all over the world.

A video of the two princes and the rest of Elizabeth's grandchildren at the ceremony has now blown up on TikTok, racking up over 574k views and more than 71k likes as of Tuesday afternoon.

The caption of the clip, posted by elisabethiilili reads: "Queen Elizabeth II's grandchildren stand vigil at her coffin in 2022."

The reminder of the emotional event tugged at the heartstrings of the TikTok account's royal fans, with one commenting: "Watching this broke my heart."

Another wrote simply: "Miss her so much."

Harry has often spoken about his “special relationship” with the late Queen, and it's reported that Her Majesty always remained supportive of her grandson and his family despite him moving away from the royal fold.
When Harry and Meghan did announce they plans for a different kind of life, the Queen publically backed them assured the British people that they would remain “a valued part of my family”.

The Sussexes’ daughter was born in June 2021, and in a touching nod to the Queen's influence they chose to name the newborn, Lilibet, which was Elizabeth's nickname as a child.
In a statement following the Queen's passing posted on his Archwell website, Harry made his deep bond with his grandmother plain.

“In celebrating the life of my grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen—and in mourning her loss—we are all reminded of the guiding compass she was to so many in her commitment to service and duty,” he said.

“She was globally admired and respected. Her unwavering grace and dignity remained true throughout her life and now her everlasting legacy. Let us echo the words she spoke after the passing of her husband, Prince Philip, words which can bring comfort to all of us now: ‘Life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings.

“Granny, while this final parting brings us great sadness, I am forever grateful for all of our first meetings—from my earliest childhood memories with you, to meeting you for the first time as my Commander-in-Chief, to the first moment you met my darling wife and hugged your beloved great-grandchildren.

"I cherish these times shared with you, and the many other special moments in between. You are already sorely missed, not just by us, but by the world over. And as it comes to first meetings, we now honour my father in his new role as King Charles III.”

He concluded: “Thank you for your commitment to service. Thank you for your sound advice. Thank you for your infectious smile. We, too, smile knowing that you and grandpa are reunited now, and both together in peace.”
