The Princess of Wales is thought to have persuaded Prince William to put aside the ongoing bitter feud with Prince Harry and send birthday wishes to him.

Following a post on the official Royal Family's X and Instagram accounts, the Prince and Princess of Wales sent their own birthday message to Prince Harry.

The Duke of Sussex, who now resides in the US, celebrated his milestone 40th birthday on September 15.

Although many believed the family's social media accounts would remain silent on Harry's big day, both the King and William sent their wishes to the Duke despite the ongoing tensions between the two parties.

Speaking of the message from William and Kate, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes that Princess Kate was likely the one to persuade her husband that "life is too short for grudges".

As reported by the Mirror, Ms Bond wrote: "My gut feeling is that Catherine was influential in this slight softening of her husband‘s implacable stand. In the film she made about the end of her chemotherapy, she told how cancer had given her a new perspective."

Speaking of the recent video update from the Princess of Wales, in which she revealed that her chemotherapy had come to an end, Ms Bond added: "What clearly matters to her more now is family, loving and being loved.

"Perhaps she has persuaded William that life is too short for grudges. Birthday wishes posted on the main Royal Family website are also a sign of a possible thaw in relations between Harry and his father."

Shortly before his birthday on Sunday, Harry released a statement via the BBC. As reported by the publication, Harry said: "I was anxious about 30, I'm excited about 40."

The statement added: "Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world."
