Sarah Ferguson showered her eldest daughter with praise in an emotional Instagram post on her 36th birthday revealing her true relationship with her stepson, Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi.

Fergie labelled Princess Beatrice an "amazing stepmother" to 'Wolfie', eight, who is the son of her husband, Edoardo Mopelli Mozzi, and his ex-partner, Dara Huang.

As Princess Beatrice celebrated her birthday on August 8, the Duchess of York shared a black and white throwback image of the two and captioned it: "Happy birthday my wonderful Beatrice. You are the most amazing daughter, mother, stepmother, sister, wife and woman! I feel so privileged to be able to learn from you every day."

"You continue to inspire me and those around you with your warmth, curiosity, and zest for life. I love you. Happy birthday."

Princess Beatrice is married to property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and they also share a daughter together, Sienna, who is aged two.

A friend of the princess told People Magazine in 2019 that she "has embraced the child as part of her life from the outset."

The Princess had previously expressed the love of reading she shares with her stepson. While announcing the winner of the 2023 Oscar's Book Prize winner, she said: "The award holds a very special place in my heart."

"My stepson, who is now seven, and I eagerly look forward to receiving the books and going through them together. Growing up in a world surrounded by books, we can take for granted that not everyone is so lucky.

"We need to remember in a world of screens and AI, it is moments of community, including between parents and children, that we need to keep alive."

In May this year, has said her mum is "doing really well" and has been given the "all clear" having been hit with two cancer diagnoses over the past year.

The Duchess of York revealed last summer that she had undergone a mastectomy after breast cancer was detected during a routine check-up.

Speaking live from the top of the Empire State Building on This Morning, Beatrice told host Josie Gibson when asked how Fergie was doing: "She's doing really well thank you Josie, she's had a bumpy health scare last year but all clear now, and at 64 she's thriving, she's been through so much, but I think now she's really coming into her own.

"I think we're just reminded when any parent or individual has a health scenario, just really get the checks that you need to get and as early as you possibly can.

"Both my sister and I are so proud of her for taking those steps to get those checks, and we've modelled our health considerations on that.

"We're really lucky in the UK to make sure that we can get those checks and hopefully we can be there to support each other when anyone goes through a health scare."
