Today marks Princess Beatrice's 36th birthday – and royal fans are marking the occasion by looking back on a sweet moment from the Her Royal Highness's younger years.

Princess Beatrice, born Beatrice Elizabeth Mary, was born at the Portland Hospital in London's West End on August 8, 1988. She is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and was Queen Elizabeth II's fifth grandchild.

The royal is known to be private about her family life so her birthday celebrations are likely to be kept under wraps. However, it is likely her family, including her younger sister Princess Eugenie, her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, her stepson Wolfie and her daughter Sienna Elizabeth will be making sure she has a special day.

But while the princess isn't active on social media herself, royal fans have still taken to the apps to send well-wishes. Many have even been gushing about one of the cutest moments from her childhood.

An X (Twitter) account, @realroyalmail, has shared a handwritten note Beatrice had sent to the former Greek King Constantine II ("Tino") and his wife Anne Marie back in 1996, thanking them for sending her birthday wishes.
