Two words in Princess Kate's recent letter 'hint' at when she will return to royal duties

The Princess of Wales recently sent a letter to the Irish Guards and according to a royal commentator, her two-word remark could signal her royal return.

The Princess of Wales may have hinted when her grand royal return would be with her recent letter, according to a royal commentator.

Princess Kate, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, missed the Colonel's Review last Saturday - a parade rehearsal held before this week's Trooping the Colour ceremony on June 15.

The future Queen is currently taking time off her royal duties as she undergoes treatment for cancer - having been diagnosed earlier this year.

Kate sent a letter to her guardsmen, speaking of how "proud" she was of the Irish Guards and apologised for not being able to take part in the event at the weekend.

She said: "I appreciate everyone Trooping the Colour this year has been practising for months and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate.

"Being your Colonel remains an honour and I am very sorry that I'm unable to take the salute at this year's Colonel's Review."

But she added: "Please pass my apologies to the whole regiment, however, I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon."

And according to Newsweek's chief royal correspondent, Jack Royston, her two-word remark ("very soon") could mean that her return to royal duties is on the horizon.

He told Sky News: "Now we shouldn't read too much into it, but it is an optimistic use of language.

"It might be tempting to think 'very soon' means she'll appear at Trooping the Colour this Saturday, that would certainly be very soon.

"I think that would also be a little bit presumptuous."

The Princess of Wales's last public appearance was in December 2023, when she joined the rest of the Royal Family on Christmas day in Sandringham.
