Queen Camilla referred to King Charles as 'Fred' during their balcony appearance at last year's Trooping the Colour, according to one lip-reading expert.

The royal couple were joined by fellow royals, such as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, on the Buckingham Palace balcony on June 17, 2023.

According to one lip-reader, Camilla could be seen, whilst reaching out for his arm, saying: "Fred, what do you think about the horse [she smiles]?"

Replying, Charles said: "I don’t know [smiling back, scratching forehead with thumb]."

The expert, as reported by the Mirror, also claimed that Prince William could be seen asking his children - Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 - to "budge up".

King Charles and Queen Camilla have reportedly referred to one another as 'Fred' and 'Gladys' for some time.

The names, which started before their relationship became official, were heavily featured on Netflix's The Crown.

On the show, the late Princess Diana found a bracelet engraved with a 'G' and 'F' on it. The names are thought to have come from two characters on one of the King's favourite shows, 'The Goon Show'.

The King - who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year - and the Queen are said to be attending this year's Trooping the Colour, which is set to take place on Saturday, June 15.

It remains unclear who else will join the couple, although the Princess of Wales won't be set to attend the annual event.
