Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'know they went too far' with Royal Family attacks
EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to have made a conscious decision to stop criticising the royals after years of tension.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle "know they went too far" with their criticism of the Royal Family, an expert told Daily Express US.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the Royal Family in 2020, and have since used their platform to criticise the Firm on a number of occasions.
The most notable attacks on the royals came in the couple's interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, their Netflix documentary released in 2022, and Harry's memoir Spare in 2023.
Among the most serious allegations was a claim that a senior royal raised concerns about Harry and Meghan's son Archie's skin colour.
But in recent months, Harry and Meghan have adopted a more conciliatory tone.
Pauline Maclaran, Professor of Marketing & Consumer Research in the School of Management at Royal Holloway, told Daily Express US that the Sussexes now realise they may have gone overboard with their criticism.

She said: "Harry's book Spare criticised the Royal Family heavily. I think they went too far with that, and I think they realise that now.
"They have been very careful not to take that same line. Harry and Meghan have even appeared to be looking for some sort of reconciliation."
Ms MacLaran, a PR expert, added that the repeated criticisms of the royals may have hurt Harry and Meghan's reputation in the US.
She added: "They have definitely lost popularity in the US, we have seen that with the various jibes that have taken place in popular culture, such as the famous South Park episode.

"Their popularity has plunged over there. The Americans still love the idea of royalty, but this latest rebrand seems strange given they want to live in the US and forget about the Royal Family.
"They were seen to be really criticising the Royal Family, and criticising them too much. I think they tipped over the threshold, for many people in the US, after the Netflix documentary."
Harry and Meghan have since been pictured at the Invictus Games in Whistler, Canada where Prince Harry gave a brief interview to Good Morning America.
