Prince Harry and Meghan Markle 'spiralling' as Netflix deal in jeopardy
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's future with Netflix is in jeopardy as the couple's prospects are "spiralling", according to one royal expert.
Prince Harry and Meghan are in a "downward spiral" as rumours about the demise of their Netflix deal circulate, according to one royal expert. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex struck out on their own in America leaving their royal duties to pursue solo projects.
But the loss of their Spotify deal last year came as a major blow to the pair and now their golden deal with Netflix - that lasts until 2025 - could be in danger as the streaming giant may not renew the deal. It comes as their Archewell Productions loses its key executive Bennett Levine, leaving the company in a precarious position.
Robert Jobson, royal editor at the Evening Standard, spoke to Talk TV about his thoughts saying it "doesn’t bode well". He said: "It was supposed to last until 2025 now there’s a lot of rumours at the moment that it’s not going to be renewed and I think the reason for that is the lack of production and there hasn’t been enough going on."
So far the Netflix deal has seen the couple release a series about their life as a couple and a documentary about Harry’s passion project the Invictus Games, which supports former servicemen and women.
Jobson said: "Also the fact that in a way Meghan and Harry are flirting with other organisations, even being flown down to Jamaica for that Paramount launch on Bob Marley and that film, so look it’s clearly not gone as well as they’d hoped, a lot of money was invested but we will have to wait and see. It does actually look at the moment that we’re in a bit of a downward spiral."
