King Charles wrote second Christmas Day speech 'without help of scriptwriters'
This year marks King Charles's second Christmas as monarch, with his speech set to focus on his environmental credentials.
King Charles' Christmas speech discussed by Russell Myers
King Charles's second ever Christmas Day speech will be broadcast tomorrow, as the monarch has reportedly not consulted any advisers to help him write it.
One of the focuses of the address this year, shown every Christmas Day at 3pm, will be the environment, with the King set to deliver his speech in front of a living Christmas tree for the first time.
The tree will also be decorated with "natural and sustainable decorations, including hand turned wood, dried oranges, brown glass, pine cones and paper" and will be replanted afterwards.
The speech has already been recorded in Buckingham Palace's Centre Room, although there has been no insight into exactly what will be said during the 10-minute address.
On Christmas Day itself the King will be with the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham, where they will attend a morning church service before tucking into their Christmas dinner.

Last year the King delivered his speech from St George's Chapel in Windsor, just months after his late mother Queen Elizabeth was laid to rest there.
While a large part of 2022's address naturally paid tribute to the legacy of the late Queen, this year Charles is expected to highlight the contribution of his heir Prince William and Princess Kate to the monarchy.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk of the speech's contents: "He is certain to stress the important role played by the Waleses and their children are likely to appear. It will be a positive message at this time of the year, though he may well express concern at the cost of living crisis."

The royal expert continued: "A mention of the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the war in Ukraine would surely be appropriate too."
Almost all of his extended family will be at the royal Norfolk estate for Christmas, apart from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Sussexes have not spent a Christmas with the Firm since 2018, and although there had been rumours they might be attending this year it seems that will not be the case.
