William and Harry blasted by tour guide who cleaned their grandmother's 'battered' grave
The tour guide said he wanted the grave to "matter" ahead of King Charles's Coronation but said what he found was "disappointing".
King Charles Coronation: Prince William swears allegiance
Prince William and Prince Harry have been criticised after a tour guide cleaned up their grandmother's grave before the Coronation. Darryl Holdnall found the resting place of Frances Shand Kydd, Princess Diana's mother, had been neglected.
Frances Shand Kydd, the King's former mother-in-law was buried in Pennyfuir Cemetary in Oban, Argyll, Scotland after she died in 2004.
She died at the age of 68 following a battle with Parkinson's disease and brain cancer.
Both William and Harry attended the funeral but the then Prince of Wales, Charles did not.
Mr Holdnall, 51, who runs Spirit of Selkie went to check on the grave ahead of the Coronation celebrations this weekend, the Daily Record reports.
The last Coronation: Charles to hold final ceremony as William tipped to ditch tradition
King Charles III's Coronation could be the Royal Family's last, royal experts have suggested. Speaking to Express.co.uk, constitutional and monarchy experts have said the King has started a trend that could see his successor further trim back the ceremony.
Dr Robert Morris, an honorary professor at University College London's Constitution Unit, said Prince William would likely follow his father's example and could, if he chose, ditch the ceremony altogether.
He said: “I wanted to make her grave matter again ahead of Coronation celebrations.
“When I went up, there were some withered flowers that were all a bit mangled and a few weeds but I cleared it all away and got some fresh flowers, a card and a Union flag."
Speaking on what he found Mr Holdnall said he was "sad" and "disappointed", particularly with the Princes.
He said: “I was a bit sad when I found it because of all the stuff she did and what happened in her life. The stone is only 19 years old and it’s already battered as it’s right on the coastline.
“It’s a bit disappointing that her grandchildren have not been up and organised something. So I thought it was important that she was remembered properly. Without her, we wouldn’t have William or Harry.”

Prince William and Prince Harry were seen for the first time together at the Coronation on Saturday since the publication of his tell-all memoir Spare.
However, Harry rushed back to California after a brief visit to celebrate his son Archie's birthday, who turned four on Saturday.
British Airways flight attendants confirmed to the PA news agency that Harry had been on the flight but said they were not permitted to discuss the details of his trip.
As he is no longer a working royal Harry sat in the third row alongside his cousins Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie while William sat alongside the Princess of Wales, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in the front row.
