Kate and Prince William are to return to work together on January 20, when they will host the reception marking the UK-Africa Investment Summit. Kensington Palace confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second joint engagement of the decade will be on Monday 20 January.
The palace has also announced their first joint royal duty, with the Cambridges to travel to Bradford on January 15 to visit a number of projects supporting the local community.
Speaking about the reception, the palace said in a brief statement shared on Twitter: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen, will host a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the UK-Africa Investment Summit on Monday 20th January #InvestInAfrica.”
The summit itself will be hosted by the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and will see businesses, politicians and international associations showcasing and promoting the investment opportunities the African continent presents for the UK.
This joint engagement of the Cambridges was welcomed on Twitter by Royal Fans.
One wrote, signalling they appreciated the work done so far by Kate and William: “In safe hands.”
Another said: “This is what I’m talking about.
“HMTQ endorsing these two will make my day, every day.”

And another claimed the Queen profoundly trust Kate and William, saying: “Wow they are really the Queens most trusted royals!
“So happy that from now on, the Monarchy will be in good hands”.
Claims the Queen deeply supports and trust Kate, who will one day become the Queen Consort to King William, were also made by a royal expert, who said the monarch “admires” one specific trait of the Duchess’ personality.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told ITV’s Lorraine the Queen thinks Kate, mother to Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, has “come into her own” in recent years and that the wife of Prince William is often there working “behind the scenes”.
Ms Bond added: “She’s doing very well isn’t she? She’s so dignified.
“She has a quiet dignity about her which I think the public is growing to love and she works behind the scenes.”
Asked whether Kate is the monarch’s favourite, Ms Bond continued: “The Queen is very, very fond of Sophie countess of Wessex - she often takes her place beside the Queen.
“But I think she admires the way that Catherine, as she’s known in royal circles, has adapted to the job being a Queen-in-waiting.”
Kate and William have taken a break from royal duties over the past few days.
The couple were last seen in public on Christmas Day, when they attended service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham with their children Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
After the service, Kate took the time to take Charlotte to speak to some of the royal fans who had waited in the cold weather throughout the morning.
The little Cambridge was praised for being outgoing with well-wishers and rather cheeky at times.
And she left everyone in awe after she was spotted curtseying to the Queen, her great-grandmother.
Before Christmas, Kate and William also stunned viewers in December for taking part to a festive BBC special with Mary Berry - A Berry Royal Christmas.
On top of opening up on their charitable work and showing what four of the associations they support do on a daily basis for the community, the Cambridges also showed their funny side and took part in a baking challenge - which saw the Duchess come out a winner.
