Meghan Markle will be celebrating her first Christmas away from the Royal Family since she became engaged to Prince Harry this year. Prince Harry, Meghan and their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor are taking a six-week break from royal duties. The family last week revealed they are planning to spend the festive season in Canada, but why is she there and is she with her mother Doria Ragland?
Royal fans eager to capture a glimpse of Meghan, Prince Harry or baby Archie have been left sorely disappointed for the past few weeks.
The last time the public saw the Duchess of Sussex in public was at the Remembrance Sunday event at the Cenotaph in November.
Earlier this year, the Sussex couple revealed they intended to spend the festive season away from the Royal Family.
The couple announced they would be taking six-weeks off beginning from Thanksgiving, which the Sussex family spent in the United States until the New Year.

This week, royal fans saw Prince Harry exhibiting his fun side when he dressed up as Santa Clause and sent his good wishes in a Christmas charity video.
The Duke of Sussex sent the video as a gift to Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity for bereaved British Forces children who have lost a parent.
During the video, Prince Harry said: “Ho ho ho. Hi guys, everyone at Scotty’s Little Soldiers!
“Hope you are having an amazing time. I hear there is 190 of you there this year so please cause as much chaos as humanly possible.
“I also want to encourage you guys to look around and realise you are part of a family, part of an amazing community and support is there for you every day should you need it.
“Having met some of you a few years ago, most of you, I know how incredibly strong you are.”
Buckingham Palace last week confirmed Meghan, Harry and their seven-month-old son Archie were in Canada.
In a statement it said: “As has been reported, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private family time in Canada.
“While this email confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected.
“The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family.
“They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau welcomed the couple and wished them a pleasant stay.
He tweeted: “Prince Harry, Meghan, and Archie, we’re all wishing you a quiet and blessed stay in Canada.
“You’re among friends, and always welcome here.”
Canada is also the homeplace of one of Meghan’s closest friends, Jessica Mulroney.
But will Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland join the family for Christmas?
Doria Ragland is a former makeup artist, business owner, yoga instructor, and former social worker who worked in the mental health sector from 2015 to 2018.
She lives in Los Angeles in California.
However, baby Archie’s maternal grandmother will not be spending Christmas in California.
Instead, it is believed Doria will join her daughter, son-in-law and grandson in Canada for Christmas.
Reportedly the couple spent Thanksgiving with Doria in the USA, but then travelled to Canada where they will spend Christmas, with Doria flying up to join them.
Prince Harry’s grandmother, the Queen, is said to be supportive of the Sussexes’ plan to take a long break and not join the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham on Christmas Day.
