Camilla makes VERY public Wimbledon appearance just days after Meghan Markle privacy row
CAMILLA has made a very public appearance at Wimbledon days after Meghan Markle sparked a row when her bodyguard controversially ordered the public not to take pictures of her at the tennis event.
Meghan Markle: Bodyguard was ‘embarrassed’ says onlooker
The Duchess of Cornwall met ball boys and girls and tennis players at the All England Club. Prince Charles’s wife looked elegant in a white dress as she stepped out for the sporting event.
It comes as the Duchess of Sussex has been at the centre of a row following her appearance at Wimbledon last week.
Sally Jones, who was seated near Meghan and her pals Genevieve Hillis and Lindsay Roth on Court One, claimed a protection officer warned her not to photograph the royal because she was there in a “private capacity”.
She described how she was taking snaps of Serena Williams when the US-born former actress’s bodyguard said to her: “Would you not take photographs of the duchess. She’s here in a private capacity.”
Mrs Jones pointed out that Meghan was in a “highly public arena” alongside thousands of other spectators and the media.
She told The Telegraph: “I think this royal protection officer was quite embarrassed.
“He appeared a bit mystified as to why he was being asked to make such a request.
“I told him it was bonkers and that even if I had been trying to snap the duchess I’d have got a blurry picture of her right ear.
“Apart from anything else, there were hundreds of people clicking away. I said to him; have you thought about having a word with any of those television cameras? He looked a little uncomfortable.”
Officials also complained that organising Meghan’s visit had been a “nightmare”.
An insider told The Times: “She wanted to come incognito but there were problems.
“They couldn’t invite her into the royal box because she was wearing jeans but that didn’t really matter because all she wanted to do was come and watch Serena.
“Andy Murray was on Court One afterwards and it was a massive faux pas not to watch a Brit when she is signed up to the royal family.”
But in a statement the All England Club insisted Meghan’s visit had been a “privilege”.
The royals regularly attend Wimbledon and the Duchess of Cambridge made a low-key appearance last week.
