PRINCE Charles “groaned” when he heard of news Princess Anne was involved in a heated confrontation with angry taxpayers.
Prince Charles is NOT longing to be king says expert
Prince Charles’ relationship with his sister, Princess Anne, was “combustable” with the Queen's only daughter described as “stubborn” and “strong-willed, while Charles was “meek” and "defensive”, according to a detailed book about the heir to the British throne. In their teens Charles and Anne are said to have grown apart, they had different interests and friends and pursued separate lives. In a very intimate book about the Prince’s early life by Anthony Holden, 'Charles, Prince of Wales' reveals a confrontation between Princess Anne and members of the public, something which disgruntled Charles when he heard about it.
The book suggests Prince Charles would often despair of his sister Anne’s public outbursts and the rage towards press photographers which he considered “counter-productive”.
The Prince of Wales heard of news that Anne was involved in yet another confrontation as Anne came face-to-face with a group of anti-blood sports protestors when she was about to go fox hunting.
One angry taxpayer confronted Anne: “Who’s paying you to do this?”
Prince Charles “groaned” when he heard it, and according to the book, the Prince “knew what was coming next”.
The exchange of abuse climaxed as the angry taxpayers replied: “Well, we're paying you to do that."
According to Mr Holden, it is a “royal sin” to fall into confrontational situations with members of the public.
Charles has long perfected his cautious and prescient way with words, and thus has managed to avoid such situations.
