Jared O’Mara left voters in lurch
Liberal Democrat Laura Gordon is assisting voters in Sheffield Hallam where Mr O’Mara has been conspicuous by his absence following his suspension from the Labour Party last October.
The 36-year-old Momentum member, who scaled back his duties on medical advice, went to ground following revelations of racist, homophobic and sexist comments he made before becoming an MP.
Lib Dem hopeful Mrs Gordon, an A&E doctor’s wife, aims to hold surgeries twice a month to sort out residents’ concerns, with another planned for tomorrow.
Laura has become the de facto MP for the area
There has been uproar in the area after the Labour-run council announced plans to chop down 6,000 trees as part of a 25-year highways maintenance contract.
Campaigner Mrs Gordon said: “Jared O’Mara has recently announced a phased return but is still not running constituency surgeries.
