Conservative Party PICKS APART Sir Keir Starmer as he ‘clings on to lefty politics’
THE Conservative Party has torn into Sir Keir Starmer accusing the Labour leader of still "clinging on" to his predecessor Jeremy Cobyn's "lefty politics".
Keir Starmer told to 'pick an answer' by Andrew Marr
The Tory press office launched a blistering attack on Sir Keir saying he shouts “that they’re under new leadership but it’s clear that Labour is clinging on to Corbynomics”. They accused the new Labour leader, who has attempted to distance himself from the Corbyn era, of being “out of touch” and “still following Corbyn’s stale lefty politics”
The Tories furious tirade comes as Sir Keir appeared on a range of different media outlets to speak about his new leadership, the coronavirus crisis, Brexit, Scottish independence and freedom of movement.
CCHQ Press tweeted after Sir Keir criticised the government's testing system for not having the capacity to deal with increased demand as schools returned.
They said: “On @RidgeOnSunday Sir Keir Starmer claims the summer wasn’t being used to prepare tests.
“This is incorrect. We expected an increase in demand and we increased capacity over the summer #Ridge.
“Sir Keir Starmer on #Ridge totally unable to answer who he thinks should be prioritised for tests. As always he fails to put forward a credible alternative and just criticises for the sake of politics.”
The Labour leader also urged Prime Minister Boris Johnson to "get on and deliver" his promise of an "oven-ready" Brexit deal.

He also revealed his "frustration” over talks of a new Scottish independence referendum, saying the SNP Government in Holyrood should be focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic.
CCHQ Press tweeted: “Did @Keir_Starmer just fail to say @UKLabour would back a trade deal for the UK? Can’t say we’re surprised - in Corbyn’s Cabinet he led the charge to stop the UK leaving the EU #Ridge.
“Asked if he backs the Union. Sir Keir can’t answer. Just like under Corbyn Labour don’t stand for a United Kingdom #Ridge.

“@Keir_Starmeron #Marr unable to rule out a wealth tax that would hit hardworking people with a new tax on homes and savings. They shout that they’re under new leadership but it’s clear that Labour are clinging on to Corbynomics.
“On @TimesRadio Sir Keir shows he’s still following Corbyn’s stale lefty politics by failing to rule out freedom of movement.
"As always Labour are out of touch and don’t stand on the side of the British people.”
It comes after Sir Keir told Sky News' Sophy Ridge programme it is important to listen to those who no longer vote Labour if his party is to regain power as he looked to distance himself from Mr Corbyn’s reign.
He said his party is now showing leadership in tackling anti-Semitism but is happy to be judged on his actions rather than his words on the issue.
He said: "We are making it clear we're a new leadership and that means being absolutely clear about recognising the scale of the defeat last December.
"That was devastating for the Labour Party, devastating for the Labour movement and for the millions of people who desperately needed Labour government.
"So, recognising that, listening to those that no longer vote Labour, and I've spent the last six months listening and asking for conversations with people that are difficult rather than easy, and changing and focusing on the future.
"That means difficult decisions like tackling anti-Semitism. So, a new leadership focused on 2024, but absolutely recognising the scale of the task we face."
