The G20 summit in Argentina on Friday will see dozens of world leaders congregate for the annual meeting. US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron will likely be among the guests. But will their wives travel with them to Buenos Aires?
President Trump’s wife Melania will travel to the G20 2018 summit, which will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina between November 30 to December 1.
She will be there for the spousal programme, including tours of the host city, some kind of cultural event, a spouses’ photo and an official dinner with the leaders and their partners.
The First Lady of the US also attended the last G20 meeting in Hamburg in July 2017.
French President Emmanuel Macron stepped off his plane in Buenos Aires on Wednesday with his wife Brigitte ahead of the meeting.
He is set to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the summit in Argentina.
This will be the first meeting with a Western leader since the brutal killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Mr Macron said during a news conference today: “I’ve always been very clear about the issue of Saudi Arabia and I will inevitably have the opportunity to discuss it with the Saudi crown prince on the sidelines of the G20.”
Agenda items for this year’s summit will also include the future of work, infrastructure for development and a sustainable food future.
Some of the countries set to attend will bring up the regulation of crypto-currencies at this meeting.
