'Reliable and effective' shaver for bald men saves trips to the barbers

Keeping your head clean-shaven doesn't have to be a chore, or something you have to nip to the barber for regularly

It might be tempting to assume that as far as paying for haircuts is concerned, bald people have it easy, since they have no hair and therefore don't need to get it cut. However, the truth isn't quite that simple for most people in that situation, because there's almost always at least some growth that needs regular cutting to keep it looking neat and tidy.

Keeping a clean shaven look can be an expensive game if you have to go to the barber just for the sake of a quick buzz, which is where head shavers come in. They can be expensive and hard to use, but the Remington RX5 bucks both of those trends by coming in at £49.45 down from £67.99. And it's incredibly simple to use and importantly, to clean.

It basically resembles a face shaver, but with a very different handle that lets you grip it and move it around your head easily, even on parts you can't see without some careful mirror work. It has five cutting heads that work in partnership to give complete coverage, so from your point of view it's just a matter of moving it around. The Remington RX5 also has up to 50 minutes of runtime, so if you're only using it for a few minutes a week, it can run for a while without needing a charge.

It has won over a whole heap of customers, with more than 5,750 leaving an average rating of 4.5 stars. One happy user wrote: "Ease of use, cleaning are very good - but the actual shaving, closely and quickly, is excellent."

Another explained a bit more to say: "For those who prefer a smooth and clean-shaven head, the Remington RX5 Ultimate Electric Head Shaver stands out as a reliable and effective grooming tool. Designed specifically for bald men, this shaver offers precision, comfort, and convenience, making it a standout choice in the realm of head grooming."

A third user said: "This is a good product and it does a good job of giving a close shave. Had it for 2 months now and been using it every day." However, not everyone has been quite so universally pleased. One less amazed customer warned that "if you’re buying in the UK, make sure you also buy an adapter as it comes with an EU plug only" - this is common for shavers, with two-pin bathroom plugs needed, but it is worth knowing.

Similarly, another user explained that "there's also no indicator to show how much charge you have left, just a needs charging indicator." Still, most people haven't found this an issue, as its score underlines.

There are plenty of other options out there for head shaving, of course - not least the well-known Skull Shaver Palm, which costs less at £39.59, but only has three cutting heads and is a little less ergonomic. Some people maintain, meanwhile, that you don't need a separate skull shaver, but could just use something like the £59.99 Philips Series 3000 an both your face and head, if you're brave.

Elsehwhere, Argos stocks the Remington RX5 Ultimate Series Head Shaver, though it's a bit more expensive at £55.

But still, a skull shaver seems like a smart investment rather than spending endless cash at the barbers - and the mid-range Remington RX5 seems like a brilliant choice. It has quality and offers great coverage, without breaking the bank.
