A woman has left gym goers baffled after she was filmed skipping with a barbell attached to her rope on social media.

The influencer, who posts online under the username @cdouyin172, was seen swinging the weight under her legs and above her head as if she were in a school playground. But she was standing in the middle of a busy gym, with bewildered members staring at her.

In the clip, which has gained more than 222,000 likes, she stopped suddenly making the bar hit her shins. It left many TikTok users cringing with sympathy pain — while she seemed unphased.

One user said: "Even the man behind is shocked." Another added: "My jaw dropped when that barbell hit her shin. if I'm her I will be crying on the floor."

A third commented: "HAHHAHAHAHHA EVERYONE IS STRUGGLING EXCEPT THAT GIRL," while the sportswear brand Gymshark quipped: "We know that hurt like a scooter to the ankle."

While it is believed that the weight was either too light to cause damage or that it was faked for the purposes of a comedic skit, experts have responded to the clip warning about the safety risks of copying the stunt in your local gym.

Jose Guevara, a Garage Gym Equipment Tester at ShreddedDad.com, warns: "I don't believe the video is real because it would be hard to get enough momentum to lift a loaded barbell with a jump rope.

"But there a lots of risks involved with a stunt like that one. Anyone around her is at risk of getting hit with the weights — especially if the rope happens to snap, the weights would fly out.

"Also, stopping the barbell with your shins would cause severe injury to the shin bones and make her fall down immediately."
