If you've only ever had a traditional rubber garden hose, you know the pain of trying to pack it away - it's a nightmare of coils and loops that spring out of your grasp at every opportunity. That's why an expandable garden hose is now such a sought-after part of any gardener's arsenal, to cut down on that sort of annoyance.

The perfect example comes in the form of this Babadu 100-foot Expandable Garden Hose on Amazon. Originally priced at £40.99, it's been slashed to £29.14 - and Prime members can get a further discount, nabbing the hose for £19.99, making for an even more irresistible deal.

It's a real bundle, too, since you're not just getting the expandable hose, but also a welcome spray gun for actual watering, and a couple of storage solutions, too. The latex hose itself is housed inside a covering made of durable polyester webbing which gets smaller while it's not in use, but expands under water pressure to its maximum length - which is super quick and ideal for storage.

The spray gun, meanwhile, has seven settings to choose from according to your needs and lets you adjust water pressure on the fly instead of at the tap, which is always handy. Finally, you get a storage hook for easy packing up, or a bag if you want to keep it safe over a longer-term period of time (like over the winter) - and it comes in four colours: blue, green, black and black and orange.

Babadu's hose has really solid reviews on Amazon, with more than 7,000 ratings averaging at 4.1 stars out of five. Those who've rated it most highly have all focused on how handy it is for storage as well as use, too, like one user who wrote: "My new [hose] stretches way further than my last. I can water the entire back garden and wash my car at the front of the house. It stores nice and tidily and is aesthetically pleasing to look at. It’s also very light."

Another reviewer said: "Great hose, it’s lightweight and stores neatly in the garden. They water flow is great and the different settings are really helpful, from watering the patio with the strong pressure to the gentle spray for the flowers." Some had confirmed that it takes a little getting used to how stretchy the hose is compared to a normal one, too: "Extremely stretchy, which is weird but good. It comes with standard fittings which is also good."

There are those who've had a less ideal time, though, including one reviewer who complained: "I would estimate I have used it around five or six times and packed it away after each use but now it’s dead due to the tiniest component breaking. I hooked it up yesterday and once pressurised it broke away from the garden hose connector on the outside tap."

Another told a similar story: "Liked the ease of connection and the flexibility around the garden but they do not last very long. I have had one for a month and it is already leaking."

This suggests that some units might have quality issues, although it's clearly not an enormously widespread issue - and the value offered by the Babadu 100-foot Expandable Garden Hose might be hard to turn down regardless. For comparison, a collapsible hose from a bigger-name brand like Hozelock is priced at £44.78 by ScrewFix (down from £55.98), while a standard hose from McGregor is £20 at Argos
