A classic car expert has shared some of the most unique features that were included on one of the first popular vehicles, built more than 100 years ago.

The YouTube channel TFLclassics regularly posts videos, offering tips to help motorists find the right classic car for them and sharing quirks and hidden features they offer.

In a recent video, host Roman Mica shows viewers around a vintage Ford Model T, stating that all passengers would need to get out when the car needed refuelling.

He explained: "The fuel tank was underneath this seat. You actually had to remove the [base of the] seat to fill the car up.

"And you checked the gas [petrol] level with a stick. You stick it in [the fuel filler] and wherever it's wet, that is how many gallons you have; currently about two and a half."

Known affectionately as the Tin Lizzie, the Ford Model T was the world's first mass-produced car, with a production run spanning from 1908 to 1927.

Whilst the Model T was an incredibly popular model across the globe, with more than 15 million examples built, the controls were completely different from any modern car.

The throttle was controlled via a lever mounted on the steering column, whereas the reverse gear is engaged with a separate pedal, located between the clutch and brakes.

Later in the video, Roman highlighted that another very unconventional feature of the Ford Model T was a speedometer that could be disconnected.

He added: "This car has the optional speedometer, which was disconnectable. So, if you didn't care how fast or far you were going, you could simply pivot this gear away from this cog.

"[If you get pulled over], simply say 'officer, I have no idea how fast I was going as my speedometer was disconnected'. Pretty crazy!"

Finally, the YouTuber stated that the Tin Lizzie also had an additional storage compartment on the passenger side to compensate for a small boot.

He continued: "The trunk [boot] on this car is tiny, so, if you wanted to carry more stuff, that's what this grate is for.

"You can stack your extra luggage up here on the [passenger side] running board."
