‘I’m a car expert - remove smells in 15 minutes using baking soda cleaning tip’
A homemade baking soda tip could help drivers remove vehicle odours in no time at all.
Drivers can get rid of bad smells from their vehicle in minutes using a 65p baking soda cleaning hack, according to experts.
Interior cleaning valets can cost upwards of £45 meaning road users can make massive savings by taking advantage of the simple tip.
Baking soda can be found in almost any supermarket with the kitchen staple usually on sale for less than £1.
Andrew Jervis, CEO of car repair platform ClickMechanic explained: “Our cars play an integral role in daily life for many of us, but keeping them spick and span isn’t always easy, especially when you have children or pets to consider.
“It doesn’t take long for the upholstery to build up dirt and stains, and this can leave your vehicle with a bit of a whiff.
“Thankfully, the solution to lingering smells and stains can be found in our food cupboards for many of us, with baking soda being an incredibly useful tool for cleaning.”
According to ClickMechanic, baking soda can be mixed with substances such as water or white vinegar to clean dirt and grime.
They stressed it can act as an “effective fabric cleaner” with vehicle interiors likely to benefit.
Mr Jervis urged motorists to leave the solution in place for around a quarter of an hour to give it time to get to work.

He commented: “If it’s a stain you are tackling, take a damp cloth and dip it into a small amount of baking soda, this can be as little as a tablespoon depending on how big the job is.
“Scrub the upholstered surface with the cloth before wiping away with a clean cloth, and you might want to vacuum the area to make sure there is no residue left.
“If you’re tackling entire areas such as your car seats or armrests, you can sprinkle liberal amounts over the surface and leave it for at least fifteen minutes to work its magic.
“Once it has been given the chance to soak up odours and grime, vacuum thoroughly and any lingering smells that plagued your vehicle should now be gone.”
But, Mr Jervis has stressed motorists should test their baking soda solution first before rubbing it all over the interior.
Drivers should do a small patch test first to double-check that it does not harm the material fitted inside.
