Strictly's Nick Knowles injured his arm earlier this week and a star of the BBC series aired her worries for him ahead of his American Smooth routine

Strictly: Nick Knowles gives health update

A Strictly Come Dancing host expressed her worry for DIY SOS icon Nick Knowles following his arm injury.

The nation's beloved dance extravaganza made its grand return to BBC screens last week, introducing a fresh batch of celebrities eager to master the intricate steps of Latin and ballroom.

Nick Knowles, the charismatic TV presenter, was among the new recruits, teaming up with the talented professional dancer Luba Mushtuk.

From the outset, it was evident that the 62-year-old was thrilled to be part of the iconic BBC programme.

But earlier in the week, Nick injured his bicep during an attempt to change a car tyre, casting some uncertainty over his stint in the competition.

Fortunately, he has managed to stay in the contest and was all set to perform an American Smooth to the tune of Parklife by Blur.

Before he hit the dance floor, presenter Claudia Winkleman couldn't hide her concern for his wellbeing.

During a break in the show, she queried: "Now I've got to ask, how is your arm?"

With a cheerful response, Nick assured her: "It's good thank you very much. Getting stronger every day and my mate texted me just before the show and said 'you may only have one arm but you've got two left feet so you should be alright.'"

Laughter ensued from everyone, including Claudia, who then praised his partner Luba: "And well done you for the brilliant adaptation, we cannot wait to see your dance."

Luba was visibly touched by the compliment as Nick humbly muttered that she had been "unbelievable".

In their performance of the American Smooth, judges gave Nick a warm reception for his efforts.

Craig Revel Horwood remarked it was a "bit ploddy" yet conceded that Nick holds "potential", acknowledging some signs of it during their dance.

Shirley opted out of criticising his footwork but praised his endeavors: "What you did for 16 hours is absolutely amazing", referencing the adaptations they made due to his injury.

Nick and Luba walked away with an impressive 21 points for their American Smooth routine.

The stakes are rising on Strictly Come Dancing as the show gears up for its first elimination this weekend.

Last weeks grand return saw no departures, with performances judged solely for scores.

But now, the rules have changed - the lowest-scoring pairs will face the dreaded risk of being sent home, leaving their fate in the hands of the discerning judges.

Who will dazzle and who will be the first to bow out of the 2024 series?

Tune in tomorrow, Sunday, September 29, for the big reveal, which will also feature a special performance by Ezra Collective with Yazmin Lacey.

Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
