'Boy George told me real feelings on Eurovision before being booted out'
EXCLUSIVE: Culture Club legend Boy George was part of the San Marino delegation in this year's Eurovision.
Boy George discusses going up against UK with Senhit at Eurovision
Prior to his shock elimination from this year's Eurovision Song Contest music icon Boy George revealed to the Daily Express how he really felt about going up against the UK in competition which is taking place in Vienna, Austria this year. The Culture Club star took part in the show representing San Marino but was knocked out in the first semi-final on Tuesday May 12. He co-wrote the track Superstar with Senhit Zadik Zadik, Anderz Wrethov, Thomas Stengaard, Julie Aagaard (Kill J), and John-Emil Johansson. It was performed by Italian star and co-writer Senhit, and he guested on it.
His participation created a situation where he could have been directly up against the UK's Look Mum No Computer with his entry, Ein, Zwei, Drei. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at the London Eurovision Party he was asked how he felt about this, he was very pragmatic, confessing, "I don't want to [get into all that]. Obviously, the best person should win. That's it. Whoever creates the best feeling. I think it's about that. It's about performances and music. It's always about context - it's always about what it makes you feel. So if something makes you feel more passionate... I don't want nul points," he added, laughing heartily.

While George might seem like an unusual contender for Eurovision, he does a lot of collaborations.
"I'm very collaboration-friendly," he insisted. "I'm always singing with other people, so to me, it's another day in the office - but on a massive scale, because Eurovision is huge!
Senhit admitted getting him on board was as simple as asking him."I'm a crazy girl. I just called his manager and said, 'Can you please ask George if he wants to do Eurovision with me?' And this is the answer," she laughed as she stood beside him.
George continued: "First of all, I thought it was going to be for the UK and I thought 'oh that's strange'.
"Then, when he said it was San Marino, I was like, 'Is that allowed?' So I did a little bit of Chat GPT to find out, and apparently it is.
"I like that, think for me, it's great to turn up where you're least expected," he laughed.
The elimination is all the more surprising as, aside from his hue fan base Senhit is also a Eurovision favourite.
She had previously represented San Marino in 2011 with the song Stand By, and in 2021, she recruited Flo Rida to perform with her on Adrenalina.
The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will air on BBC One on Saturday, May 16 at 8pm.
