John Lennon's son Julian has urged fans to undergo heart checks after he received a devastating health diagnosis. The 63-year-old musician, who inspired three Beatles songs, revealed he has been "diagnosed with coronary heart disease and [being] pre-diabetic." Taking to social media, the Too Late For Goodbyes star advised his fans online: "I urge you all to get checked out sooner rather than later.

"You never know what hidden health issues you may have. I've managed to catch them early enough to be able to reverse some of the damage and will hopefully be able to live a health long life." But this isn't the star's first health scare.

In 2020, Julian revealed he was left "shaking inside" following an emergency operation to remove a cancerous growth from his head. The singer had visited his dematologist who noticed a lump on his head, something he had had all his life but "looked and felt a little different".

It was there that she urged him to have a biopsy, where the results showed that the mole was cancerous. Julian immediately went under the knife at a hospital in the heart of Los Angeles to get it removed. After he came round from the operation, he took to Facebook to reassure his fans that he was on the mend.

Recalling the terrifying ordeal, he penned: "She urged me to have a biopsy two days ago, which I obliged. Only to learn 24 hours later that it was malignant/ cancerous, and that her recommendation was to get it removed immediately, which is what happened today.

"Hopefully, we managed to remove all that was cancerous, but the moleis being sent off again, for a further/deeper analysis, and I'll have those results next week." The singer-songwriter and photographer said before discovering the lump he had one of the most "positive and productive weeks" of his life after a "very trying year, if not 5 years" since his mother Cynthia died.

Julian, who was the inspiration behind hit Beatles tracks such as Hey Jude, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and Good Night, wrote: "I cannot tell you how I felt, from one moment of joy to the fear of feeling that I may be gone at any given moment. I'm still shaking inside... but my faith is strong..."

Julian's mother Cynthis died in April 2015 at her home in the heart of Spain after a "short but brave" battle with cancer. She met john Lennon whilst studying at art school in Liverpool back in 1957, with the couple tying the knot shortly before Beatlemanie transformed their lives from being a jobbing musician to becoming one of the biggest boy bands the world has ever seen.

At the height of the Beatles' success, she remained in the shadows while many of Lennon's female fans fawned over of him. His marriage to Cynthia wasn't well known to his millions of adoring fans, with Cynthia chosing to stay at home bringing up Julian while the Fab Four toured the globe and topped the charts.

But in 1968, the couple went their separate ways after Cynthia discovered his relationship with Japanese artist Yoko Ono, the BEatles legend's soon-to-be second wife and the mother of his youngest son, Sean.

Their divorce prompted Paul McCartney to write the Beatles' hit hey Jude to help Julian come to terms with his parents' separation. The line 'Take a sad song and make it better' is about the Lennons' broken marriage and the impact it had on their eldest son. John was shot dead by manic fan Mark Chapman outside his New York City apartment complex back in 1980.
