Property presenter Kirstie Allsopp has angered fans with her controversial views yet again. Posting to X, formerly Twitter, the mum-of-two shared her thoughts on parents who share the stresses of their children's exams.

In a ranting statement, the 54-year-old wrote: "Being 'stressed out' by your kids’ exams is the ultimate example of modern parenting, and it’s pretty pathetic, we are not the ones taking the exams and we are adults. It’s self indulgent and unhelpful." One parent replied, sharing their own experience. "My daughter had her first dance show a month ago and I barely slept for a good week in the run up to it," they admitted. "She's only 4! I am going to be a wreck when she gets to exams. This is definitely a valid thing. Normal parents who care about their kids get stressed. My mum was the same."

But Kirstie quickly hit back, fuming: "I’m sorry you feel that way, but what will happen if your child is facing a real problem? How will you support her then if a 4 year old’s dance recital causes sleepless nights?"

Someone else argued: "If you have a neurodivergent child it can be incredibly stressful," as the presenter replied: "I have a neurodivergent child and step child and all the more reason to keep calm and carry on."

However, others were completely on Kirstie's side. One wrote: "Agreed. I remember my parents not worrying about my exams: 11+, O levels, A levels and then degree, plus all the end of term exams They were just exams and you got results and dealt with them (pass or fail), not a parent problem and no stress passed onto parents on my behalf."

Another echoed: "As a parent you shouldn't be passing on your stress to your children. Life is challenging and you need to teach them to manage stressful situations and be pragmatic and keep things in perspective."

The 52-year-old, who has two sons with her husband Ben Andersen, said she is "proud" that her children have had "broken bones" over the years as it shows she had "let them explore and take risks".

She went on to say in a tweet: "We now know the damage done by smartphones & risk-averse parenting, we have to make the changes necessary in society before it is too late @JonHaidt."

Kirstie was bombarded with nasty comments, as she addressed the hate that she was getting. She wrote: "The insults are well worth it if it gets people to think about what is going on.

"There is a crisis in adolescent mental health, and I believe @JonHaidt may have hit the nail on the head in this book." She posted a picture of Jonathan Haidt's The Anxious Generation book which she previously quoted as well as excerpts from inside the book.
