Oasis reunion tour announced for 2025

Liam and Noel Gallagher have confirmed Oasis will reunite for a series of live shows next year.

In a press release on Tuesday morning, they confirmed summer 2025 gigs in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Dublin.

In a statement, Oasis commented: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

However, their announcement has sparked outrage among diehard fans, who had some choice words for the younger generation, who jokingly suggested they only planned to buy tickets to hear one song - Wonderwall.

“Wonderwall” was produced by Oasis in 1995 and is the most streamed song on Spotify released before 2000. The lyrics were written by the guitarist, Noel and it continues to rank in "best of all time” charts all around the world and fans have hit the play button on YouTube over 400 million times.

A heated debate has erupted between Gen Z and Gen X.

Some middle-aged fans believe younger listeners shouldn't be allowed to go if they "didn't live through" the band's prime in the nineties and 2000s.

While Gen Z fans claimed they would buy tickets just to hear Wonderall and would walk out mid-concert.

One claimed: "Can't wait for the Oasis reunion, I’m definitely getting tickets. I only really know Wonderwall so I’m going to bring earphones and listen to good music when they play the other rubbish songs, just can’t miss a chance to see Wonderwall live. #oasis"

"Gonna get tickets to see Oasis just to leave after Wonderwall," another remarked.

A third suggested: "I think wanting to hear Wonderwall live is reason enough to get a ticket to Oasis. Didn't realise they were giving out loyalty cards to humourless men in 1997."

"Might get Oasis tickets for Wonderwall just to p*** off a bunch of men," a fourth argued.

Another said: "I hope all the people who only know wonderwall will get an oasis ticket just to p*** old people off."

But hardcore fans hit out as one tweeted: "Can all you Wonderwall warriors keep your little mitts off my @oasis tickets please."

Another argued: "No one under 30 should get Oasis tickets! We've been waiting way too long for this and I better not see influencers getting free s**t."

"Let’s hope all these @oasis tickets don’t go to bloody influencers," a third agreed.

"If I have to wake up at 4am to buy ticket for oasis because I’m in America and I’m unable to get tickets because little 14 year olds have grabbed a load of tickets I’ll be lividdddddd,"(sic) another fumed.

An X user shared: "Can’t overstate how completely and utterly disinterested in Oasis you would have to be ‘just know Wonderwall’. It would take quite extreme preventative measures to avoid knowing other Oasis songs and any people that incurious are unlikely to want tickets!"

A fan mocked: "Imagine waiting 15 years for Oasis to reform only to lose out on tickets to Chloe, 21 from Stockport who just wants to hear Wonderwall live. #oasisreunion."

Someone agreed: "That would be a brutal experience for any longtime Oasis fan! Waiting all those years, hoping for the reunion of one of the most iconic bands, only to be outdone by someone who's just there for the biggest hit. It really captures that bittersweet mix of excitement and disappointment that happens when major bands reform and the ticket demand skyrockets. "Wonderwall" may be legendary, but there's so much more to an Oasis concert!"

"You can be a fan of Oasis at any age. Don't agree with the gatekeeping based on age. However, if your favourite song is Wonderwall, in fact, if you even like Wonderwall, you shouldn't be buying tickets," another admitted.

"Can't wait to lose out on Oasis tickets to folk named Noah, Elijah and Olivia using mum and dads credit card just so they can hear Wonderwall," a social media user commented.

Another said: "You should have to verify your age for Oasis tickets like anyone born in the 80s or 90s should be first on the ticket list. Saves us losing out to kids who just want to hear Wonderwall #Oasis."

"And so many Oasis genuine fans are going to lose out on tickets to the kids that listen to wonderwall and don’t look back in anger only," another vented.

Others suggested fans shouldn't "gatekeep" the popular 90s band.

One argued: "Gatekeeping oasis is hilarious. anyways, I hope i get tickets just to spite Billy (and so I can hear wonderwall live xxx)."(sic)

Another said: "Most of the people that I’ve seen that are all excited for oasis only know the tiktok parts and wonderwall that’s like the only reason ppl are excited bcs they’re gonna get tickets only knowing the tiktok parts and claim to be a big fan."(sic)

The siblings fractious relationship came to a head in 2009, after a backstage fight in Paris led to Noel, 57, leaving the iconic Britpop band.

They have since reunited after 15 years apart.
