Katie Hopkins has slammed Lily Allen after she admitted on returning a pandemic puppy after it ate her her passport. The pop singer has sparked widespread backlash after she made the confession on her podcast Miss Me? with Miquita Oliver.

The BRIT Awards songstress, who adopted Mary in 2021, shared that her dog became “an absolute logistical nightmare” and returned her to the shelter after she "ate her passport."

Since her admission, Lily revealed that she's recieved "death threats" and "really abhorrent messages." She also implored people to "stop acting on clickbait articles when you haven’t done your due diligence."

Katie Hopkins has since waded in on the conversation after animal rights organisation PETA criticised her for returning the dog. Lily has since furiously responded to PETA on X and called them out for "lying."

Replying to her tweet, Katie penned: "Relax love @lilyallen…the dear dog is better off without you." Many of her followers responded to her opinion in the comments section, with the reaction being mixed.

On one hand, some fans agreed with Katie. A follower replied: "I was thinking the same, he had a very lucky escape." A second person also said: "Definitely Katie, let’s hope she has learned from this."

However, someone else chimed in and said: "I have a feeling the wave of resentment isn’t actually about the dog, it’s about years of sneering condescension and all the new rules for society dictated by her and people like her - yet she can’t even live up to them."

Responding to PETA, Lily raged: "People have been furiously reacting to a deliberately distorted cobbling together of quotes designed to make people angry and as a result, I've received some really abhorrent messages including death threats.

She also added context to why she decided to return her dog: "After many months and much deliberation everyone was in agreement that our home wasn't the best fit for Mary... The person that she was rehomed with was known to us and that rehoming happened within 24 hours of her being returned."

However, PETA responded to Allen with a brutal swipe and said: "YOU laughed when speaking about abandoning Mary and ruined this poor dog’s life. She thought she had a loving forever home before you tossed her out, calling her 'that f******* dog' who 'ruined my life.' Shame on you. You don’t deserve even the toy dog we sent you."

Lily replied furiously: "People laugh when they talk about painful things all the time, it’s quite normal... What kind of animal welfare charity tries to shame someone for wanting to improve the welfare of an animal?"
