Jeremy Clarkson’s girlfriend Lisa reveals six-word concern that left her wary of him
Lisa Hogan, who met Clarkson in 2017, revealed she had some doubts after her first meeting with the former Top Gear presenter.
Jeremy Clarkson's girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, has revealed she had concerns about the TV presenter's "reputation" when she first met him.
Lisa shared the details on a June episode of the Sunday with Miriam podcast. She was speaking from her home on Diddly Squat Farm, where The Grand Tour host's hit show, Clarkson's Farm, is filmed.
The actress, who starred in the 90s comedy film 'Fierce Creatures', was quizzed by podcast host Miriam O'Callaghan about how she met Clarkson. It turns out Lisa was somewhat wary, and the romance involved a "solid three months" of courtship.
Lisa said: "We met through mutual friends who had tried to set us up a couple of times and we eventually met at a Christmas party. And I was just about to leave and we were introduced, and he said, 'No, no; come on; sit down and have a chat'.
"And that was it, really, so he called me a couple of days later and I thought, 'Okay, you've got a bit of a rep', so he had to really court me. He courted me for a solid three months."
She went on to say that The Grand Tour star is "very good company" and he does "make an effort" to make her "laugh a lot". Lisa then explained what happened when the first episode of Clarkson's Farm aired.
The actress recalled Clarkson told her that she wouldn't be in the show "much". She explained that it was "just another day" and he'd worked with the camera team for years, so she "just bumbled along".
It did prove to be an advantage for Lisa, however, who was then able to really get her "point across" when she lost her temper, as Clarkson couldn't speak over her, or it would ruin the sound and edit.
Clarkson recently opened a £1 million pub in the Cotswolds, 'The Farmer's Dog', and also owns Hawkstone Brewery, which is reportedly one of the fastest-growing firms in the UK.

Lisa, who shares three children with her ex-husband, Baron Steven Bentinck, a private art collector, met Clarkson, who also has three children, in 2017.
Prior to the opening of the pub last month, Lisa took to Instagram to share the progress with fans, saying she felt "pretty much ready to go".
However, The Farmer's Dog has experienced its share of setbacks, with Clarkson admitting he may be losing up to £10 per customer at the pub, according to reports.
In addition to the pub and brewery, Clarkson also has the Diddly Squat Farm Shop, which sells a range of products produced by the farm or other local businesses.
Meanwhile, Jeremy's final special of The Grand Tour titled One for the Road, which he fronts alongside James May and Richard Hammond, is available to watch on Prime Video from today.
