Stacey Dooley issues exciting announcement as she shares career news

Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley was originally thrown into the spotlight as an investigative journalist, but has recently taken on a new career move.

Stacey Dooley has shared an exciting Instagram post as she announced that she has won an "Oscar" award. The journalist has recently taken to the West End in the stage play, 2:22 A Ghost Story.

Uploading a photo of a knock-off version of the famous Academy Award trophy, Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey also included a sweet note written by her daughter Minnie. She penned: "Guys. I won an Oscar. And it was hand delivered."

The note from her daughter read: "To Mummy, we are so proud of you. Love you, Minnie. XXX." Many of Stacey's 1.1 million followers couldn't help but react to the adorable message.

One person wrote: "Saw the play today at the matinée. You were fabulous. Please do it again!!! Met your mum outside the stage door. Such a lovely family and so proud of you. Deservedly so. Now go rest with that baby!!!"

A second person also commented: "You deserve it, currently in the audience watching the show. You are smashing it."

A third person typed: "You were incredible in 2:22 this evening! So glad we got to watch the last performance!"

The Luton-born star has recently taken on the role of Jenny, which has previously been played by Cheryl and Lily Allen.

The play has previously featured stars such as pop singer Matt Willis, Harry Potter's Tom Felton, EastEnders actor Jake Wood and podcast host Giovanna Fletcher.

Many of her fans were delighted with the news and flocked to the comments section. One person said: "I came to opening night and you were amazing and I'll definitely be back again soon."

Prior to her stage debut, Stacey appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, which she later went on to win. She originally shot to fame as an investigative journalist and has taken a deeper look into hard-hitting topics.

Shows such as Sex In Strange Places, Stacey On The Frontline, Young Sex For Sale In Japan and Canada's Lost Girls have covered social issues such as prostitution, child sexual exploitation and anti-abortion camps.

Stacey dropped out of school when she was just 15 years old to become a hairdressing assistant. However, she got her big break when she was 20 as a participant in the 2008 documentary Blood, Sweat and Tears.
