Love Island stars are known for flaunting their figures in teeny bikinis in the villa. While some embrace the natural look, others have undergo cosmetic procedures to enhance their figures.

From being left afraid they were going to die in Turkey after collapsing in a hotel room, to waking up with bigger boobs than expected, it doesn't always go to plan. Olivia Attwood Dack, Anna Vakili and Megan Barton Hanson are just a few former contestants who have spoken candidly about their surgery woes.

Botched breast augmentation surgeries can result in serious complications such as infections, severe scarring, asymmetry, implant rupture, and capsular contracture, where scar tissue forms around the implant, causing hardness and distortion. It can also lead to chronic pain and necessitate further surgeries to rectify, which carry their own risks and costs.

Dr. Omar Tillo, plastic surgeon and senior medical director at CREO Clinic, suggests that regrets over surgery are quite common when decisions are made impulsively.

He told OK!: "Many young people may choose cosmetic enhancements because of trends or social pressure, without considering the permanence and risks. To avoid regrets, you should have thorough consultations to understand realistic outcomes and potential complications. It is important to take time to think about the decision and ensure you're not rushing into it. Being psychologically ready and having clear, realistic expectations are key."

A number of Islanders have been candid about their experiences with breast enhancement surgeries in the past.

Anna Vakili shared her own harrowing experience on her 'Sisters In The City' podcast alongside her sister Mandi Vikili: "We went abroad to Turkey and me and Mandi thought we were going to die abroad. It was very scary."

Describing the ordeal shortly after the surgery, Anna recalled: "After our surgery, within a day or two, we were in a hotel room about to faint with blood all over the hotel room. It was like a murder scene, we both collapsed in the hotel room. Bandaged up, bleeding... it was like a horror movie."

Since then, Anna has taken steps to correct her "botched" surgeries.

Olivia Antwood has also been candid about her cosmetic procedures and even led an ITV series discussing plastic surgery. At the age of 20, she underwent breast augmentation, which on her surgeon's advice ended up larger than she intended, a move she later regretted.

She confided to The Times: "I was happy for a year, then I realised they didn't look right for my frame. The weight of the implants started to stretch my skin and they got lower and lower. I started to think, 'This isn't what I signed up for at all'." Her guidance for anyone thinking about breast enhancement is straightforward: "Don't do the most to get your money's worth."

Following significant weight loss, Megan Barton Hanson opted for corrective surgery in 2021 to deal with the resulting asymmetry of her breast implants. At the time, she expressed a desire to be "honest and open" about her surgical journey.

Then, in the subsequent year, Megan, who's rumored to have invested around £40,000 in altering her appearance, declared that she was finished with cosmetic changes.

She revealed: "I restarted therapy and can confidently say I'm in the best, most content place I've ever been mentally and physically. Because of this, my old, bigger breast implants no longer sat right on my chest, so I decided to go for a different style and shape."

Laura Anderson secretly took out a loan to increase her bust size from a 32B to a 32DD when she was only 18 years old. She told Fabulous magazine in 2020: "When I woke up, I just cried. I'd asked the surgeon for the C cup implants but they'd put in the bigger ones and said it'd 'save me cash in the long run as they knew I'd want them done again', but I hated them as soon as I saw them, they were massive."

"All I want is 18-year-old Laura's boobs back before surgery, but I know that is impossible."

After experiencing shooting pains in her left breast, Laura underwent another operation to replace her implants, yet she remained dissatisfied with the outcome.
