BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay shares emotional announcement as he addresses Sally absence

BBC Breakfast presenter Jon Kay updated his followers with an emotional Instagram post where he marked moving to a new studio exactly one year ago today.

Jon Kay has issued an emotional announcement on his Instagram and addressed Sally Nugent's absence from BBC Breakfast. Taking to social media, the English presenter marked a special milestone with a heart-warming post.

The 54-year-old shared to his followers a selfie of himself in the BBC Breakfast studio alongside Sarah Campbell who has filled in for Sally Nugent as she takes time off.

He added the caption: "Good morning from your BBC Breakfast team. Lovely to have Sarah with us - covering for Sally this week.
It was exactly a year ago today that we moved into our lovely new studio.

"Over the last twelve months our team has interviewed hundreds of guests on the sofa, covered thousands of stories and last month welcomed the BBC News at One to join us in Salford. Happy Birthday studio!"

Many of his 7,900 followers jumped to the comments section to react to his post. One person said: "Happy 1st Year!!! I join you every morning and it’s always great!"

A second person commented: "Good god a year already? Where has the time gone! Happy Birthday SQ0," as another person also wrote: "Good morning beautiful people!"

Earlier in the programme, Carol Kirkwood reported from Kew Gardens on today's forecast, with England and Wales expected to experience high temperatures.

Jon and Sarah also reported on today's latest topic and news headlines, included the latest Euros fixtures where England headed through to the final 16 but were booed off the pitch by fans last night.

The pair also reported on the start of the annual Glastonbury Festival, where thousands of festival-goers headed through the gates at 8am to claim their camping spot ahead of the music this weekend.

Headliners include Dua Lipa, Coldplay, SZA and Shania Twain on the Pyramid Stage. Other artists such as Camila Cabello, Disclosure, James and Two Door Cinema Club will also be performing.

The site in Pilton, Somerset, is expected to host 210,000 people which includes ticket-holders, festival staff, stage crew, fans and hospitality staff.
