Victoria Beckham reportedly had a strong message for her children amid allegations of David Beckham's infidelity, as revealed in a bombshell new book by Tom Bower.

The couple has weathered many storms throughout their marriage, with rumours of David's alleged affairs causing turbulence over the years. Their relationship began to show signs of strain in 2016, and according to author Tom Bower, things took a turn for the worse two years later, as detailed in his latest book, The House of Beckham, which is serialised in the Mirror.

Bower alleges that the couple turned on each other, with their respective publicists spreading negative stories about the other. One such story involved a remarkable exchange during the Beckhams' summer holiday.

During this incident, Bower claims Victoria reassured her children by saying: "Daddy's not a cheat."

Upon reading the report, David is said to have been furious, believing that Victoria and her publicist were orchestrating a media campaign against him.

David and Victoria have been candid about the challenges they've faced in their marriage. Early in their relationship, David was accused of being unfaithful with another woman while Victoria was touring and pregnant with their first son, Brooklyn.

In her 2001 autobiography, Learning To Fly, Victoria admitted to punching David when she saw him next. However, after a trip to Italy to resolve their issues, they decided to make their marriage work.

Then, five years into their marriage, rumours circulated that David had an affair with his assistant, Rebecca Loos. The former footballer vehemently denied any romantic involvement with her.

David previously addressed the rumours, stating: "During the past few months I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life. What appeared this morning is just one further example. The simple truth is that I am very happily married.

"I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change these facts."

In their recent Netflix documentary, David revisited the issue, saying: "There were some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage."

Victoria also opened up about the challenging times, admitting: "It felt like the world was against us. And here's the thing; we were against each other, if I'm being completely honest."

Tom Bower's book, The House of Beckham, will be available for purchase on Amazon from June 20.
