Giovanni Pernice has been urged to make a "new statement" as the BBC continues their investigation into the Strictly Come Dancing star.

The Italian dancer, 33, has been embroiled in controversy since three of his former partners lodged complaints about his behaviour.

The three women, including Amanda Abbington and Laura Whitmore, are believed to have hired £700-an-hour lawyers to pursue claims against Giovanni and the BBC.

Giovanni has come under fire since Amanda, 52, abruptly quit the 2023 series of Strictly halfway through the competition. She later claimed the show left her battling mild PTSD, and demanded footage from her training sessions with Giovanni.
The Sherlock star also during his "militant" training sessions. This led to the BBC launching an investigation into "serious workplace misconduct claims".

Speaking out for the first time after weeks of ongoing claims against Giovanni, Amanda branded him "awful and nasty" following her experience with the Strictly pro.

It is now believed Giovanni has stepped down from Strictly Come Dancing for good, however, neither the dancer nor the BBC have confirmed or denied the claims.

To prevent a fatal career blow, crisis management expert and CEO of GoUP, Edward Coram James, has suggested that Giovanni should release a defiant statement.

He told The Mirror: "He should acknowledge that his training can be intense, but that there is a key difference between intense and toxic - that he pursues perfection in himself, and so demands the same from those he works with. And, if that doesn't work for them, then they shouldn't work with him.

"Brilliance requires sacrifice… that sort of thing. So long as the allegations don't end up being too nefarious, I believe that the public will sympathise with this position and respect the integrity behind it."

Last month, Giovanni issued a statement on his Instagram account when the allegations first arose, vehemently denying all claims made against him. He wrote: "To my dear fans, You will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week.

"Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name. Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive.

"No one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support! Giovanni."
