Strictly Come Dancing star Stacey Dooley was originally thrown into the spotlight as an investigative journalist, but has recently taken on a new career move.

Stacey Dooley has issued a "public service announcement" to her fans as she revealed that she is doing more shows for her acting debut. The journalist has taken to the West End in the stage play, 2:22 A Ghost Story.

Speaking to her 1.2 million followers, the Strictly Come Dancing star posted a video on Instagram informing her fans that she is doing more shows than she expected and urged people to buy their tickets.

Walking to work, she said that she had two shows today and said that originally she was not meant to be doing the entire run. She then explained that she was "scheduled to have the following week off" to do a documentary.

Stacey then confessed that "circumstances had changed" and then told her fans to "get their tickets". The Luton-born star has recently taken on the role of Jenny, which has previously been played by Cheryl and Lily Allen.

The play has previously featured stars such as pop singer Matt Willis, Harry Potter's Tom Felton, EastEnders actor Jake Wood and podcast host Giovanna Fletcher.

Many of her fans were delighted with the news and flocked to the comments section. One person said: "I came to opening night and you were amazing and I'll definitely be back again soon."

A second person chimed in: "Friday night’s show was phenomenal! What an amazing performance by you all". A third typed: "Came on Friday night and you were all fabulous! Congratulations. get your tickets folks!"

Another person also commented: "I saw the play last week. A great night out and you and the cast are brilliant together," as another said: "Saw it today, and wow, you and the rest of the cast were amazing. Wow."

Prior to her stage debut, Stacey appeared as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018, which she later went on to win. She originally shot to fame as an investigative journalist and has taken a deeper look into hard-hitting topics.

Shows such as Sex In Strange Places, Stacey On The Frontline, Young Sex For Sale In Japan and Canada's Lost Girls have covered social issues such as prostitution, child sexual exploitation and anti-abortion camps.

Stacey dropped out of school when she was just 15 years old to become a hairdressing assistant. However, she got her big break when she was 20 as a participant in the 2008 documentary Blood, Sweat and Tears.
