The UK is home to an array of gorgeous destinations perfect for a caravan, motorhome or camping holiday, but a travel expert has named one of their favourites.

Caravan, motorhome and camping holidays are some of the best ways to get out into nature and explore the beauty the UK has to offer. Caravan and motorhome holidays, in particular, allow holidaymakers to explore the nation and combine multiple destinations into one holiday.

Travel and Motorhome expert Nick Roach from Just go, which offers self-hire motorhomes in the UK, shared some of his favourite destinations for a motorhome, camping or caravan holiday.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: "There really are so many great places, the Peak District and Norfolk are favourites and obviously the South West to take in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall."

Recently, two campsites in Cornwall took the first and second spots on the Camplify Best Campsites Index for 2024. These include Elysian Fields in Ashton, Cornwall, and Hendra Holiday Park in Newquay, Cornwall.

The index also revealed the remainder of the south-west to be a camping hotspot, with five campsites across Dorset and Devon featuring within the top 20.

"There are some really good value locations to stay at such as...Ocean Pitch Campsite, Devon," commented Nick.

However, if you're looking for a destination which while popular, might have a wider range of quieter camping spots, Nick suggests turning your attention to Wales.

"Wales is also a really good destination and not on as many radars," he said.

Based on the recent Camplify Best Campsites Index for 2024, Wales saw multiple campsites rank highly, with four featuring in the top 10, and six in the top 20.

With a wealth of incredible natural beauty spots and three stunning National Parks, there are plenty of places to set up camp on a motorhome holiday in Wales. Campsites.co.uk lists 374 motorhome parks in the country, such as Cape Du Campsite which is nestled at the foot of Mount Snowdon and offers both wild swimming and fishing onsite.

Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, meanwhile, is a serene site located at the foot of Snowdon in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, offering stunning views and access to a range of outdoor activities. It placed joint-second in the Camplify Best Campsites Index for 2024 and catering for camper vans, caravans and motorhomes.

Open from March to October, it welcomes dogs in designated areas and provides a tranquil setting for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

If you're a first-time motorhome holidaymaker or are thinking of giving it a go, Nick says it offers endless "freedom". He said: "Getting off the beaten track and enjoying some of the hidden gems we have in the UK is a wonderful way to create memories."

While the peak summer season may be passing by rapidly, Nick said there is still plenty of time to enjoy a motorhome holiday - and it could even save you money too.

"The peak seasons are more expensive due to the summer holidays and demand," he explained.

"October can be a great month to travel, the weather can often be good and some of the busier locations are quieter, plus seeing the leaf colours in Scotland or the Lakes is a magnificent sight."
