Otherwise known as Meadowsfoot, this hidden gem enclosed beach lies near Ivybridge and is located right at the mouth of the River Erme, rolling hills and countryside surround this pretty spot.
The beach is open to the public every day, year-round - even though it is privately owned.

At low tide, the beach really comes into its own, revealing the large stones placed either side of the beach which are perfect for exploring and climbing.
Although there are no lifeguards, the water is suitable to swim with Mothcombe being a popular spot for surfers hoping to catch some waves.
Despite the car park only being less than half a mile, access to the beach is not particularly easy as wheelchair access can prove a little difficult.
Those visiting Mothcombe must go down a narrow, wooden path which leads to the unspoilt beach that has hardly any tourists even in the peak summer season.

Situated by the car park, you will find toilets and The Old School House, a Mediterranean infused restaurant that serves up a delicious array of foods from homemade gnocchi, lamb shoulder croquettes, and even local sardines.
From summer BBQ’s, live music, or if you just fancy a cup of tea, this restaurant is only five minutes from the stunning coastline.
Despite your furry friends not being allowed between May 1 and September 30, your four legged friends are welcome on the beach the rest of the year.
