Best city to explore at night features beautiful attractions and safe, walkable streets
A new study has found the best cities in the world for tourists to visit at night, with many featuring attractive surroundings and a very low crime rate.
The long-haul travel specialists at Travelbag have shared the world's most beautiful cities that tourists should explore and photograph at night.
Whilst many tourists on city breaks like to get up early so they can have a full day of exploring the destination, many cities around the world look best when they are lit up after the sun sets.
According to the company's study, the best destination for a nighttime city break is Dubai, the most populous part of the United Arab Emirates.
Sometimes lovingly referred to as Gulf Tiger, Dubai is an important global trade centre that features a wide range of impressive buildings, many of which are lit up at night to give it a very beautiful appearance.
Evidently, many tourists think so too, with Travelbag noting that the city has more than 27,300 posts from Instagram users, with only New York City having more.
Another popular city break destination that Travelbag encouraged tourists to explore at night is Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
Being the largest city on earth, it would be impossible to fully explore Tokyo in one night, however many popular attractions, such as the Surugaya Scramble Crossing, tend to come alive after sunset.
In addition to the many attractions in the city, the company also highlighted that Tokyo is particularly safe from criminals, giving it a score of 83.4 out of 100 for security.

Finally, for tourists who are planning to take a city break in a lesser-travelled destination, Travelbag suggested a trip to Muscat in Oman.
With just 132 Instagram posts featuring the tag #muscat, the capital of the West African city is largely tourist-free. However, there are beautiful buildings that can be found throughout Muscat.
These include the Al Alam Palace, which is used by the Sultan of Oman to welcome heads of state, the Royal Opera House Muscat and The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
