Conor McGregor should be stripped of his belt and then fight me - Tyron Woodley
CONOR MCGREGOR should be relieved of his lightweight title, according to UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
Conor McGregor, UFC lightweight champion
McGregor, 21-3, reached the summit of the 155lbs division 14 months ago in the main event of UFC 205, a card which saw him TKO Eddie Alvarez to become the first fighter in the promotion’s history to hold two titles simultaneously.
'The Notorious’' hiatus from the Octagon was the result of the birth his son, Conor Jr, and a multi-million-pound boxing match with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
McGregor’s failure to defend the lightweight title has resulted in the UFC brass introducing an interim 155lbs belt into the mix.
With each passing month, calls for McGregor to defend his belt continue to grow, as well as those demanding he be stripped of his title.
One man who wants to see McGregor stripped of the title is UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.
However, Woodley’s desire to see McGregor relieved of his belt is motivated by financial gain.
“I think he likes to make history, he likes to break records,” ‘The Chosen One’ said during the latest instalment of UFC Tonight.

According to UFC president Dana White, McGregor wants to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon in the summer.
The Irishman’s current plans don’t sit well with White, who has suggested that McGregor could lose a second UFC title due to inactivity.

“This is a game of time, do you know what I mean? Time is your enemy in this sport or any other sport," White told Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole.
"When you’re a professional athlete, time is your enemy. And we can’t go on forever and not give guys the opportunity.
"Tony has been around for a long time and has earned his dues. Khabib has earned his dues. And the list goes on and on and on.
Conor McGregor has yet to defend his lightweight title
"So Conor has done very well, he’s made a lot of money.
"And if he decides if he doesn’t want to fight again for another how long, that’s up to him. That’s his choice and his decision.
"But the belt has to move on. So we’ve got to figure some stuff out here in the next couple of months."
