Agatha All Along fans spot sneaky reference to classic sitcom you might have missed

Disney+ streamers are loving the magical new drama starring Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, but did you catch the sly WandaVision-style reference to another classic sitcom?

Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along teaser trailer

Agatha All Along’s two-episode premiere seemingly included a subtle homage to one of the cast member’s most iconic shows.

Marvel Studios’ latest Disney+ series is finally here and fans who couldn’t wait to catch up with the devilish witch Agatha Harkness (played by Kathryn Hahn) have shown up in droves.

At the start of the series, Agatha is still under the spell of Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who trapped her in Westview after their battle at the end of WandaVision.

Believing herself to be a forensic detective named Agnes, she eventually realises she’s been living a lie when she crosses paths with Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) and a mysterious teen (Joe Locke).

She later forms a coven with three more witches and Westview resident Mrs Hart (Debra Jo Rupp) and returns to the real world to try and regain her magic.

Aside from all the sorcery, one of the biggest talking points of the show so far was an apparent reference to Debra’s role in That 70s Show when the witches have to sing together.

In a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) asks: “So, who’s going high?”

Mrs Hart is rather flustered and replies: “Oh, no thank you, I don’t take drugs.”

Both the humour and editing of the scene seemed incredibly familiar to viewers who grew up watching Debra as Kitty Forman, and it makes sense the spin-off to WandaVision would include meta-references to other shows.

One fan spotted the Easter egg and said: “This scene and the camera angles were absolutely a that 70s show reference right? Especially since mrs hart is played by debra.”

Several more viewers replied to share their agreement, with one saying: “And they were in the basement, absolutely yes.”

Another exclaimed: “Omg yes!!! I was even thinking during this scene she was giving me biiiig kitty foreman vibes.”

“I didn’t even catch that,” a third admitted. “So disappointed in myself.”

To which the original poster added: “Mrs hart saying “i don’t do drugs” in response to going “high” just made my brain instantly go there hahaha.”

And a final fan said: “100%. It’s the second time a Debra Jo Rupp character has been involved in something she doesn’t really get in a basement and realized hey, this is cool actually.”

Agatha’s comeback on Disney+ will air through the Halloween season so expect plenty more spooky fun and references over the coming weeks.
