Emma Raducanu indicates her French Open favourite with message of support
Emma Raducanu is currently missing the French Open after having surgery but she's still backing one of her rivals from afar.
Emma Raducanu has shown her support for Ons Jabeur at the French Open. The Brit is currently sidelined after undergoing surgery and has kept her posts about tennis to a minimum. But she broke her silence on Roland Garros to cheer on the world No 7 after her third-round win.
Raducanu has been forced to miss this year’s French Open after having operations on both of her hands and one ankle. The 20-year-old announced that she would be out of competition for several months after failing to manage two wrist injuries since last summer.
It means that she will also miss her home Grand Slam - Wimbledon - and she is also expected to skip the US Open, where she won the title in 2021. But the former world No 10 still appears to be keeping up with the action as she threw her weight behind one player in Paris.
Raducanu reposted a photo of Jabeur to her story after the Tunisian advanced to the second week with a win over Olga Danilovic. “@onsjabeur yallah,” she wrote.
The pair faced off in an exhibition match in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2022, with Jabeur coming away victorious after winning in the match tiebreak. But Raducanu was still happy to get on the court despite losing.
She had been due to play the exhibition in 2021 but pulled out after testing positive for Covid and was replaced by none other than Jabeur. “I'm so glad this year I was able to make it out of the hotel room,” she said.

“Last year I had a bit of a shocker. Amazing to play here in front of all of you, this is Ons’ house so thank you for having me.” And Jabeur had some kind words for her opponent after winning.
“Emma did not make it easy for me. She's still younger than me so take it easy please, I'm old,” she laughed. Jabeur will now face America’s Bernarda Pera as she bids to reach her maiden French Open quarter-final.
