Stan Wawrinka rants at Novak Djokovic over Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal feud
STAN WAWRINKA has ranted at Novak Djokovic over the Players' Councils decision to axe ATP chief Chris Kermode.
Novak Djokovic addresses Chris Kermode 'feud'
A vote took place on Tuesday in Indian Wells which forces Kermode to step down from his position as ATP chairman at the end of the season.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were not involved in the decision but they made their opinion vocal that they wished the Briton stayed in charge.
However, Djokovic opted against approaching the two tennis legends and instead pressed ahead with ousting Kermode.
But Wawrinka, who can play his fellow Swiss ace Federer in the Indian Wells third round, is far from happy with the outcome of the vote.
The three-time Grand Slam winner was so furious he wants certain board members removed.
"I’m really, really sad and disappointed about that," he said.
"If you look what Chris achieved for the tennis, for every player, for every fans, for everyone around the tennis, it’s been amazing.
"I think, yeah, for sure, there is some problem in general in politic, in tennis, in governance in the board, in everything.
"There is a lot of things happening that I don’t think they are right.
"But in the same times, we have a council with players that are doing a lot of work, a lot of time for it, and they take the decision.
"So if you want to change that, you need to be on the council. I’m not in the council, so I cannot really talk too much about it, because I’m not spending the hours and the times that they are doing.
"I also know that there are some people in the board that shouldn’t be in the board."
Meanwhile, Djokovic explained exactly why he wanted Kermode axed.
"It was decided that it's time for us to look into new leadership on the tour," Djokovic said.
"When you have three votes of the player board and three votes of the tournament board, the president is a tiebreaker in many voting circumstances.
"And in most of the cases, there is a conflict of interest. That is something I feel like, as a group, we need to address."
