Kawhi Leonard trade: San Antonio star holds showdown talks over Spurs future
KAWHI LEONARD held showdown talks with San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich on Tuesday.
The revelation comes as NBA superstar Leonard angles for a move away from the Spurs.
A host of teams - including LA Lakers and LA Clippers - are understood to be interested in Leonard.
But the Spurs want to smooth over problematic relations between their staff and the two-time All-Star.
Yahoo claim Leonard and Popovich sat down for face-to-face talks on Tuesday.
A source from the league said the discussions were held ‘professionally and confidentially’.
Popovich is understood to be unhappy that Leonard did not make himself available for the NBA playoffs in 2018.
Leonard had been struggling to recover from an injury as the season dragged on but had always been expected to reach the playoffs.
His absence spurred rumours that he was set to quit San Antonio and reject a $219million supermax contract.
