Elaine Thompson was nowhere to be seen in the 100m final
Jamaican Thompson was widely expected to win the final, as it was the only competition she was involved in.
But USA’s Tori Bowie snatched gold on the line in a thrilling race.
Thompson failed to get off to her usual electrifying start out of the blocks and was trailing in the wake of her rivals.
The 25-year-old appeared to be sluggish and Bowie produced a stunning dip at the end to pinch gold - one hundredths of a second ahead of Marie-Josee Ta Lou.
