Justin Gatlin: Watch disgraced star run 100m in 9.45secs to beat Usain Bolt's record
CONTROVERSIAL sprint star Justin Gatlin once smashed Usain Bolt's 100m world record by running 9.45secs.
Justin Gatlin runs 100m with wind assistance
But the time, which he put in last year, didn't count... because it was assisted by huge wind turbines.
The American, who won World Championship gold in London on Saturday night, finished the 100m in an incredible 9.45secs - well under Bolt's 2009 record of 9.58secs.
It was all part of an elaborate stunt for Japanese game show Kasupe! Gatlin was propelled by a huge turbine before being assisted along the way by smaller fans placed at the side of his lane.
Gatlin, 35, was well off that pace in the World Championship final this week but he still tore up Bolt's farewell script.
Bolt was left with only a bronze in his final individual 100m race after Gatlin, twice banned for doping, came through in 9.92secs.

"It is Bolt's last race. It is an amazing occasion.
"We are rivals on the track but in the warm-down area, we joke and have a good time.
"The first thing he did was congratulate me and say that I didn't deserve the boos. He is an inspiration."
